Produced for ID, “Who Took Misty Copsey” is a true crime podcast investigating a cold case that has gripped Washington for over 30 years. We designed accompanying show graphics for its premiere on YouTube to tell the story of a young girl who disappeared after a day at the county fair, leaving behind only questions.

Our creative direction reimagines the gritty detective board as a teenage bulletin board, blending investigation with innocence. We paired case evidence and polaroids with foil stars and colorful buttons, as if Misty had decorated it herself. The result is a jarring contrast: a youthful aesthetic that reveals a chilling reality upon closer inspection.

We crafted flexible, episode-agnostic visuals to maintain consistency across the series. By highlighting pivotal locations and artifacts through slow, cinematic camera pans, we built a seamless loop perfect for long-form listening. This allowed the visuals to support the narrative without distracting from the investigation's depth. Below is an episode preview.

Lookout, Voice Access, and Action Blocks are Android apps built for people with visual impairments, mobility impairments, and cognitive impairments, respectively. These innovative products allow users to control their phone using only their voice, to be their set of eyes by detecting text and objects through the camera, and can launch common actions with a single tap of a button. For each app, we created a video that introduces the product (to boost awareness) and explain its value and use (to boost adoption).

The illustration style pairs Google’s iconic color palette with simple shapes and characters. By using the design principles of familiarity, contrast, and focus, each video is optimized for inclusivity and to improve visibility for people with visual impairments.

The videos were posted on Google’s main YouTube channel and have amassed hundreds of thousands of views.

We teamed up with our friends at Google to create a video in anticipation of the larger RCS rollout for iOS users. RCS (Rich Communication Systems) is a modern phone technology that will improve messaging for all. Already available for Android users, the technology will soon be adopted by Apple. It solves common bugs between Android and iOS users, such as the green/blue bubble wars, blurry photos and videos, broken group chats, and lack of typing indicators. The goal was to create a one minute, sizzle-style video to get people excited for what’s to come.

We utilized graphics, UI, and a strong music track to drive the narrative. The style was inspired by the Google Messages branding, with a healthy dose of emojis sprinkled in. The video was shared on Google and Android’s YouTube accounts, amassing 60k views within one week of posting. It helped guide the conversation around Apple’s adoption of RCS. A 30 second short form version was included in the final deliverables for use on social.

We developed visuals for the launch of Google Beam, a new product being developed at Google. Previously given the beta name Project Starline, it is an AI-first video communication platform that enables people to come together, collaborate, and connect. The technology allows remote interactions to feel
indistinguishable from being in the same room - allowing you to “be there from anywhere”.

We were tasked with creating a demo for how the technology works. We developed striking visuals of how the state-of-the-art video model transforms 2d video streams into a realistic 3d experience.

The demo was presented by Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, at Google IO.

We’ve partnered with Google for the past 6 years in creating self-help videos for the Pixel phone, resulting in over 2100 tips, each localized in 10 languages, for 6 consecutive phone launches. The tutorial style videos showcase the latest and greatest tips and tricks across favorite Google products like Maps, Search, and YouTube.

A mix of live action and animation, each tip is tightly coordinated across multiple production and features teams. Although the format seems simple, each tip takes 35 steps to make. We handle everything from scripting to final delivery, and have developed a proprietary system to capture localized Pixel UI workflows. We also provide pre-production guidance and on set technical direction.

The videos are preloaded on every Pixel phone and are posted to Google’s YouTube channel with hundreds of thousands of views, helping people all over the world.

Pixel Tips

Very Scary People examines the dark biographies of the most frightening serial killers in recent history. Broadcast on the ID network and hosted by Donnie Wahlberg, we designed visuals for all 3 seasons of the hit series companion podcast. The third season centers on the notorious Ronald DeFeo Jr., who committed the Amityville killings - a case that has inspired countless novels, films, and documentaries.

Our visual strategy was to develop an aesthetic every bit as chilling as the subject matter, reflecting the grim narrative. We extensively edited archival and stock photos by applying a heavy fractal blur. A transparent window serves as our central motif, gliding over the frame to imply the gradual revelation of the crime to the audience.

This project launched with specific limitations – visual assets had to loop seamlessly across all episodes, and the motion couldn't distract from the audio. Our fix was to prioritize essential themes and atmospheric photography to ensure the imagery remained relevant throughout the story. We opted for restrained, ambient animation to avoid distracting the listener. Below is an episode preview.

The rapid rise of AI has fundamentally reset expectations across all industries, and the automotive sector is no exception. To meet this shift, we developed a series of high-impact videos for Google to debut at CES in Las Vegas, the world’s premier tech event. These videos were designed to position future vehicles not just as a mode of transport, but as a proactive, intelligent companion that is seamlessly integrated into a user's life.

The goal of the demos was to showcase a vision of an empathetic, context-aware autonomous vehicle that leverages advanced AI to address driver needs before they are even expressed. To appeal to OEM’s, we featured a brand-agnostic vehicle from the fictional “Cymbal” car brand and created a visionary yet viable narrative to suggest that this technology is ready to be built into their vehicles today.

We were given the directive to “just make it look cool”. We think we succeeded. With our approach, we combined 3D assets with AI-generated video to provide ultimate flexibility - allowing us to accurately portray scenic routes from Zurich to Geneva with dynamic aerial shots and hyper-realistic environments. We maintained a cohesive, stylized look across the series, tying the narratives together with a friendly, conversational AI-generated agent and an animated "voice presence" to humanize the technology.

Masonry was tapped to create a video for the Ads & Commerce team at Google. The goal was to highlight how Google has played a pivotal role in advertising and commerce - positioning them as the disruptive leader in the space over time. The video aired at Austin City Limits in Austin, TX.

Our approach was to show the historical progression of advertising and commerce through the centuries to present day, showcasing the technologies that Google has provided to merchants. By leveraging
AI video with Veo, we generated immersive, period-accurate visuals that would have otherwise been impossible to capture. Our story follows the fictional Lira family, who over centuries run a clothing business. Conceptual UI was developed to further enrich the storytelling.

Mind of a Monster is a true crime podcast series from ID. There are 9 seasons total, each focusing on the life and crimes of prominent American serial killers. Season 9 focuses on Michael Gargiulo, also known as “The Hollywood Ripper’”. Gargiulo's violent spree tragically claimed four lives – specifically young women residing in his immediate Los Angeles neighborhood. The YouTube-hosted podcast series focuses on his early life, crimes, motives, and where he is today.

We developed the visuals for all 9 seasons, each with the same look and feel. The visual direction needed to be endlessly riffable. Due to the high profile nature of each killer, there was a wealth of information available online. Taking an investigative approach, we sourced authentic newspaper clippings and
photographs directly from FBI files and court documents. The newspaper clippings come to life with stop-motion style animation, giving the visual direction a hand-constructed feel that is rooted in real life evidence. Below is an episode preview.

The Superbowl, but make it puppies. We were tasked with creating ads and social content for the 2026 Puppy Bowl, the yearly showdown where Team Ruff and Team Fluff battle for the title of Puppy Bowl champion. This was a dream project for us that began with plenty of collaborative ideation and culminated with a live action shoot featuring dozens of puppies and NY Giants quarterback Jameis Winston.

The goal for this year’s social campaign was to position the pups as serious athletes. When developing the look and feel, we borrowed elements from the professional sports world. Think bold use of color, quick cuts, football motifs, and punchy music. The video concepts followed suit. Our team scripted and produced player profile reels, a series of “paw’dcasts,” exclusive sideline interviews—and much more.

Nearly 13 million people tuned in on the big day. Several of the videos were aired on Animal Planet and major television networks, while the digital rollout featured 170+ unique assets across four platforms, ultimately generating hundreds of thousands of organic views.

Geo Accessibility is a video series that provides accessibility guidance to Google Geo’s internal UX and UI teams. The goal for the series is to teach Googlers how to make their designs accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. Topics ranging from color contrast, labels, touch targets, and more are covered.

There are three episodes total, each varying in length from two to six minutes. Each episode is a mix of live-action footage, curated b-roll, and graphics. To reinforce the concept of digital design and user interface, we incorporated visual accents such as grids, dashed lines, and a clean, monospace font, evoking the aesthetic of a wireframe. Leveraging our extensive experience in branding and UI design, we successfully translated complex design principles into a visually compelling and easily digestible format, making the process of inclusive design accessible to a wide audience.

Our work with Food Network Kitchen began in the Fall of 2019. Our partners needed 25-30+ episodes of hosted “cook-along” content edited and delivered on a monthly basis for their new app. Each episode ranges from 15-45 minutes in length.

We tapped our talented network of editors, mixers, and post-producers and quickly met the challenge. We have since delivered over 400 episodes of premium content (200+ hours and counting), hosted by star chefs such as Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis, Martha Stewart, Ming Tsai, Alex Guarnaschelli, Michael Symon, and many others. The production coincided with Covid, resulting in some creative solutions. Chefs were sent camera equipment to film at home in their kitchens (sometimes with their mobile phone).

Our work on this began a collaboration on several other cooking shows such as Worst Cooks in America and Crack an Egg. Below is a sizzle reel of the work done over the years.

We created a pitch commercial for FindHub, an existing Android app that allows you to locate your phone, tablet, headphones, and other accessories on a map. Google tapped us to create a conceptual video for the app’s new positioning - pivoting from locating lost devices to connecting with friends and family in
real-time.

Aiming for a Gen Z demographic, the ad centers on a high-energy music festival. The story tracks a group chat using agentic AI to coordinate their concert logistics, culminating in an attendee using AR goggles to pinpoint their crew in the crowd via FindHub’s interface.

Our approach to the commercial champions AI, with the technology at the forefront. The video was completed in August 2025, when Veo was still fairly new. We utilized entirely AI generated VO and footage to unlock scenarios previously unattainable with traditional production. With a modest budget, we successfully featured massive crowds, immersive POV sequences, and several aerial drone shots – in previous iterations, there was even a ferris wheel!

Success Academy is the largest free, public charter school in New York City. We created a promo video for them highlighting the new arts and athletics options available to students entering middle and high school. The goal of the video was to get kids excited about the activities they’ll soon have access to.

This was such a fun one to work on, and one of our favorite projects to date. The design direction is inspired by scrapbooks and utilizes torn paper, cut out shapes, nostalgic school-inspired textures, and eclectic typography. A tight color palette and consistent, repetitive use of graphic elements keeps the direction composed yet playful. Riffing off of the handmade look and feel, the animation approach features a stop motion style. The percussive track keeps the energy upbeat, and much care was taken with the sound design to ensure the two and a half minute video didn’t feel repetitive.

The video was played at multiple live events and is used as a promotional piece on streaming platforms, social media, and NYC subways. The client loved the video so much that they asked us to create 5+ different spinoff versions with versions in Spanish as well.

The goal of the videos was to showcase a context-aware AI that anticipates driver needs before they are even voiced, creating a concierge experience that extends well beyond the driver's seat. We portray a seamless narrative that allows drivers to interact with their vehicle’s AI even when the user is away from their car, directly from their phone.

With our approach, we combined 3D assets with AI-generated video to provide ultimate flexibility. Given that a large portion of the demos feature UI, we developed a highly stylized visual direction with dynamic camera moves and depth of field to add interest. We maintained a cohesive, stylized look across the series, tying the narratives together with a friendly, conversational AI-generated agent and an animated "voice presence" to humanize the technology.

In another collaboration with Success Academy, we created a hype video for new hires to get them excited about their new role. We worked with existing footage, animated typography, and a custom percussive track to drive the story.

We developed visuals for “Why Can’t We Talk About Amanda’s Mom?”, a new true crime podcast from ID. The series focuses on the unsolved and brutal murder of Renée Bergeron in Mobile, Alabama, in 1993. Despite the severity of the crime, the initial investigation received little attention and failed to produce any arrests. Because of this, very little imagery is available to support the crime. We dove deep into her case, conducting our own investigation to construct a representation of her story with found imagery.

The visual direction is a nod to the case being unsolved and the mystery surrounding Renée at her time of murder. By representing the victim as a cut out shape, we can tell her story without needing assets that portray her likeness. This in turn humanizes the victim, her life, and takes the ‘forgotten case’ portraying her as a person (even if she’s not here) with a life and loved ones, rather than just a victim. Because of the long-format nature of the podcasts, we came up with a quieter, ambient solution that wouldn’t overwhelm the viewer.

In 2022, Google Street View celebrated its 15 year anniversary. Google Street View is a technology featured in Google Maps and Google Earth that provides interactive panoramas from positions along many streets in the world. It’s a virtual tour where you can explore streets, landmarks, and businesses as if you were physically there.

Masonry worked in partnership with the Google Marketing team to create a 60 second video that captured the emotional essence of the Street View experience. Employing an original script, specialized UI capture, animation, and footage from all over the world, the goal was to emphasize the human aspect of Street view: one’s connection to home, community, meaningful memories, and aspirations.

Since the release, the video has been viewed over 4 million times and featured on various blogs such as TechCrunch and Travel + Leisure.

We created a pitch commercial for FindHub, an existing Android app that allows you to locate your phone, tablet, headphones, and other accessories on a map. Google tapped us to create a conceptual video that introduces a new app feature - being able to find your friends and family in real-time.

Our strategy was to feature a quirky, off-beat narrative to set the ad apart. The commercial centers on an Indian wedding, where our groom loses the ring on his wedding day - causing a high-stakes search conducted by his groomsmen. With help from FindHub, our groom can see where the ring is located on the app’s map along with his friends in real time. The hunt is on!

Shot in India on an extremely tight timeline, a comprehensive plan was paramount to our success. We developed detailed storyboards and came up with an in-depth strategy for the shoot. Ultimately, we produced a vibrant, unconventional spot that resonates with a high-energy Gen Z demographic.

In anticipation of their new JW Marriott campaign, Mother Design tapped Masonry to bring their vision to life through animation. The ambitious project involved projecting the campaign videos onto dozens of buildings in Times Square, placing our work at the epicenter of New York City.

Given the immense scale and visibility of this campaign, meticulous attention to detail was paramount. Working within stringent technical specifications, Masonry meticulously synchronized the video content across dozens of screens, ensuring seamless playback and optimal visual impact. This demanding project required precise timing and coordination to guarantee flawless execution, a testament to our team's expertise in large-scale projects.

We were honored to contribute our animation skills to such a high-profile campaign and are immensely proud of the final result. The opportunity to have our work showcased in such a prominent and influential location was an incredible experience for our team.

We teamed up with Mother Design in the middle of their massive brand launch for Marriott Bonvoy. After merging with Starwood Hotels to become the world’s largest hotel portfolio, Marriott International engaged Mother Design to create a new global loyalty brand with a substantial challenge: combine Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest, and Ritz Carlton Rewards under a new name and identity, and connect 100 million members, 30 brands, and 6500 properties worldwide. From this, Marriott Bonvoy was born.

We brought the logo and identity system to life through motion. Embedded in the wordmark is a “cursor”. This cursor is used throughout the identity to represent what’s next, discovery, connection, and possibility. We explored several cursor animation behaviors, how it could animate into the wordmark, and how it can interact with language, photos, and illustrations.

Ultimately, the client went in another direction with the logo and the team had to pivot in a new direction. This was still a blast to work on, and some elements from our collaboration made it into the final rebrand.

We were tasked with creating a series of tutorial videos for the Fitbit Ace, a first-of-its-kind smartwatch and fitness tracker made to get kids moving. The device features movement-based games, designed so the more kids move, the further they advance in the game.

The games only work when the user is walking. Great for kids, not for us. We needed to screen record the games in use. The videos required several specific scerarios to showcase - all at different stages of each game. We quickly realized that we actually needed to walk around to get the footage we needed. We plotted several strategies, including hiring an animator to walk around Los Angeles. We ultimately landed on a custom-built rig. We strapped the watch onto this device, which mimicked the movements of a walking person. Our animators were able to “walk” and play the games comfortably while screen recording at their computer.

Working with incredible live action from the Fitbit team, we created kid-friendly tutorial videos that are super easy to understand and capture the playful spirit of the brand. The video was localized in two languages to reach a larger audience, and is featured on all purchase touchpoints and social channels.
